Mum's Birthday.
Eighty is a milestone
Quite a feat to reach
A major celebration
Of life.
The family all gathered
Each wanted to partake
Congratulate the oldest
Eat a piece of cake.
She is a wife and mother
Grandmother and Aunt with
Greatgrandchildren old enough
Their families to start!
Balloons were up and photos
All wore a happy smile.
We chatted and we feasted
We stayed with her a while!
Mum proudly sat there smiling
Enjoyed her special day
She even got a phonecall
From those who're far away!
To think that only five of us
Forty years or more
Embarked on an adventure
That brought us to this shore!

Lovely poem. Brought back memories of celebrating my Mum's 80th with many family and friends; a super day and a lovely memory.
