News Today.

Have you seen the News today oh boy
Wish the paper we could just destroy
Wipe the bloodshed wash away all tears
Seems that things get sicker by the years.
Troops go wild consuming too much drink
BinLaden puts the world onto the brink
Nuclear weapons not beyond his reach
Hope it's all a lot of empty speach.
In Texas man goes crazy with a saw
Deadlier guns so police enforce the law.
Toddler found unconscious in a dam
Smokers going on a cigarette slam.
Tobacco taxes raised to pay for pills
Other taxes cut to help with bills.
Children can't play safely on the net
Aussies rush more mobile phones to get.
Will Germany rescue flailing Greece?
Or will Euro trading one day cease?
Have you seen the News today oh boy?
Can't find any story bringing joy!
Think I'll close my eyes and go to sleep
Reading any more will make me weep!

Wow, I am impressed. I didn't sign onto the challenge, but maybe next year. It's been fun just visiting around and reading such creative stuff.

You've said it well, Ingeborg. The news is mostly horrible. Good news doesn't make headlines!

Excellent use of the Beatles title!! Great poem. I love how the sing-song rhyme scheme and rhythm juxtapose with the content.

That's why I skipped the real news and went straight to the weird stuff.
I love the way you took it to the Beatles.

Agree, we're getting more news than ever and much of it not good. Aren't the lads a rich source of great lines?

Thank you all so much for your feedback:) I had such a struggle getting started with this but that beatles song popped into my head and that sort of made the rest easy.
