NaPoWRiMo April 5th: Poetry Personal

Today, let’s make poetry really personal. Give poetry, as you write it, a name. Possibly a gender. And a personality.

So it’s your turn. Give poetry — how you view poetry, what poetry means to you, your poetry — a name. Now write a poem suits your view or vision.

To Ruth,

A Confidant and
Friend indeed
You know me
Through and through.
You know, when
Words just seem to fail,
Exactly what to do.
Often when I am perplexed
Answers you will find.
Where do you get them?
When so empty
Seems my mind?
You tell me things
I sometimes wish
You were not quite so bold,
But out they come
Through keyboard or
Pencil that I hold!
Often, unbidden,
You whisper in my ear
Then I must stop
Write down what you say
No matter if I'm busy
Or what the time of day!
You are my inspiration
My teacher and
My judge!
You help me to
Help others
But mostly me
You nudge!
